Sustainable Solutions for Resilient Communities

Discussing climate change without considering its economic and cultural effects is a limited approach, especially in communities where adaptive means are scarce.
In Cuangar, this reality is evident. Most members of the Producers’ Organizations are farmers who directly face the impacts of the climate crisis, such as soil degradation, declining agricultural productivity, food insecurity, and increasing economic vulnerability.
To address this challenge, a strategic and transformative action was implemented: training farmers in the production and use of organic compost—a practical, sustainable, and low-cost solution. In April 2025, 650 members were trained by Agriculture Instructors and Water Agents through intensive theoretical and practical sessions. Participants learned effective composting techniques using agricultural waste, promoting a cost-free alternative that significantly improves soil quality.
In a short period, the results of the initiative are already noticeably significant. Positive impacts include:
  • Improved soil health, directly reflected in increased fertility and agricultural productivity;
  • Reduced use of synthetic fertilizers, contributing to lower environmental impact and production costs;
  • Adoption of a sustainable, economically viable practice that is easily replicable in different contexts; and Strengthened food security through access to healthier food, promoting more resilient families.
This activity proves that, with knowledge and locally adapted solutions, it is possible to effectively tackle the effects of climate change while fostering lasting social and economic transformation in communities.
