Farmers organized into Producer Organizations (POs) in the Kavango East region are strengthening their capacity to adapt to climate change through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices promoted by the ADSWAC Project.

The initiative has encouraged the implementation of integrated production systems that combine tree planting, composting, small livestock rearing, and horticulture, contributing to improved agricultural productivity and enhanced food security for families.

On community plots, farmers use organic waste to produce natural compost for soil restoration, while the rearing of goats and poultry provides additional income, protein for household consumption, and organic fertilizers for agricultural activities.

These practices are also being replicated in household gardens, where families make use of domestic and plant waste to feed livestock and fertilize vegetable gardens, promoting the efficient use of available resources.

By integrating agriculture, livestock production, and environmental conservation, the Producer Organizations are building more resilient farming systems capable of responding to the challenges posed by climate change while strengthening the livelihoods of rural communities.
