Dirico Promotes Community Empowerment under the ADSWAC Project
The municipality of Dirico is one of the locations where the ADSWAC Project is being implemented and, over the past week, carried out a set of activities that directly involved local communities. The actions focused on promoting the sustainable use of water, adopting good agricultural practices, and raising awareness about the impacts of climate change.
In the communities of Tchova 1 and 2, the water user group, accompanied by the local agent, visited the community borehole to assess its operating conditions. Meanwhile, in Shamutue 3, the water agent met with the Producers’ Organization to lead an awareness campaign on the challenges posed by climate change.
Six agricultural instructors were also in the field, conducting practical horticulture training in the communities of Shikekete, Ndunsha, Shamaputo, Mbambi 2, Ditemuangue, Mpango, Cassivi, and Tune. These sessions provided skills for the creation and management of demonstration fields, considered fundamental for strengthening productive capacity and local agricultural sustainability.
In the community of Cassivi 2, members of the Producers’ Organization shared food conservation techniques and methods for organizing garden beds in small plots, highlighting the importance of simple but effective practices to improve production and ensure greater food security.
The activities culminated in a planning session that brought together agricultural instructors, water agents, technicians from the Green Schools Program, leaders of the Climate Change Action Center, and representatives of the Producers’ Organizations. The meeting served as a space for dialogue, coordination, and exchange, reinforcing the joint commitment to expand community impact and prepare communities for future challenges.
