ADSWAC strengthens agricultural production and intensifies environmental actions in Savate, Dirico and Calai
The ADSWAC project has recently carried out a set of interventions in the municipalities of Savate, Dirico and Calai, in the provinces of Cuando and Cubango, combining the strengthening of agricultural production with environmental education and awareness activities, as part of its efforts to promote climate resilience and food security.
In the municipality of Savate, the project’s activity team worked at the model field of the Community Centre for Climate Change (CACC), with a focus on the production of 100 seedlings of species such as papaya, moringa and trevozia. In parallel, six nurseries were established for the production of tomatoes and cabbage, using seeds supplied by the Cuangar Climate Change Centre. The activities also involve local Producer Organizations, which are currently engaged in land preparation, fencing and clearing of cultivation areas for the current agricultural season.
In the municipality of Dirico, the ADSWAC project, under the Green Schools Programme, marked Earth Day with an environmental awareness campaign and the distribution of fruit trees, including mango, papaya, avocado, orange and lemon trees. The plants were distributed across several neighbourhoods in the municipal headquarters, with the participation of local authorities, technicians, teachers and the Green Patrol of the 28 de Agosto School Complex.
In the municipality of Calai, activities focused on community awareness for environmental protection and on promoting tree planting as a response to climate change, strengthening community involvement in the sustainable management of natural resources.
The interventions involved the participation of municipal authorities and local partners, reinforcing the ADSWAC project’s commitment to food security, environmental sustainability and strengthening climate resilience in the region.
